Divergent Trailer

One of my practicum projects is to book talk two YA books to middle schoolers. Both books have to be apart of the Texas Lone Star Reading list from 2012, and I have to get them done by the end of this week. This is also why I was able to find and read Divergent by Veronica Roth. Although I had wanted to read Divergent very much I can't read for pleasure until this semester is over. I completely excuse my reading my Insurgent, Book 2 of the trilogy, because it only took me three days to finish it.

While I've used plenty of Web 2.0 tools in my classes I had yet to use Animoto for myself. The purpose behind this project was to use a the completely free version of Animoto so that, if the librarian chose, she could also use it to help her book talk her books throughout the year.

I've yet to show the librarian the finished product, but the process was definitely a learn while you're doing it thing. I ended up using MorgueFile for my photos, Macintosh Pages to create the initial PDF, a free online PDF converter to change them into images, and finally Animoto for the music and to produce the video. It really wasn't too hard. Time consuming, but not hard. I'll definitely do the same for the second book, and probably in the future as well for my own library.

Make a video of your own at Animoto.
